5-Year-Old Flips Bird to the Audience for 20 Minutes During Nativity Play

December 20, 2019

A little girl dressed as an angel had her finger on the pulse of her school play.

Ella Legge caused a sensation after a hangnail had her accidentally flip the bird to parents and other members of the audience of the school’s nativity play.

The situation occurred when the precious tyke, who was dressed in a white gown and silver halo, appeared to raise her injured middle finger to alert her mother of her painful situation.

“I was horrified and trying to tell her to put it down without interrupting,” Carla Bovingdon told TODAY Parents.

Despite feeling uneasy, Bovingdon snapped pictures of her bundle of joy unknowingly performing the rude gesture.

In the various photos, the sad-eyed little cherub can be seen grabbing her arm while holding up her finger.  And as if to double-down on the crude move, at one point she raised both arms as to make it look like she was flipping off the crowd with her two hands. Legend!

“A few of the older kids in the audience were commenting, a couple of teachers noticed it, but we all tried to ignore it,” Bovingdon added.

Despite it going on for almost 20 minutes, Bovingdon eventually stopped trying to get her daughter to put the finger down as she realized most of the audience understood Ella wasn’t being impolite on purpose.

“Because she was doing it so innocently, I think most people were thinking, ‘Oh, bless her,’” the 33-year-old said, according to the New York Post.

After sharing the images on social media, the story quickly went viral. Although she’s too young to fully understand what the commotion was about, Ella had a message for her new fans.

“[Ella] wanted to say ‘thank you’ to everyone for liking her picture,” her mother said, before adding, “but then she said, ‘I don’t know what’s funny though.’ ”

And that makes it all even more adorable.
