MERRIAM-WEBSTER HAS DECLARED THE WORD “THEY” THE 2019 WORD OF THE YEAR. IT’S BASED ON A 313% INCREASE IN LOOK-UPS ON THEIR WEBSITE AS “THEY” IS ONE OF A HANDFUL OF NONBINARY PRONOUNS AMOUNG PEOPLE WHO DON’T IDENTIFY AS “HE” OR “SHE.”
