Shoes from Back to the Future II sold for $92,000

And all proceeds go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research!

"Where we're going...we don't need roads."

They were going, of course, to the future, and 'they' is Doc Brown and Marty McFly, and we're OBVIOUSLY talking about Back to the Future.  But why?

Well, apparently, a piece of movie memorabilia just sold on eBay for $92,100.  And it was none other than one, of only two pairs in existence, of the futuristic, self-tying shoes Michael J. Fox wore in the second installment of the franchise.

But, wait, it gets better.

The shoe came from a Nike employee's personal collection...why are we not surprised that the cool shoes from the future are Nikes?...and it garnered 220 bids before reaching the $92,000 mark.  And what's really mind-blowing is that the shoes are in wretched condition.  As in, they're disintegrating.

But...the best part?

All the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation to fund Parkinson's research.  And THAT is the best reason we've ever heard to spend $92,000 on a pair of disintegrating shoes.  Well done, all!  Check out the purchase below:
