So, there's this THING happening right now.

We'd ask if you're familiar with Mariah Carey's ubiquitious Christmas hit, "All I Want for Christmas Is You", but we know it won't be necessary.  OF COURSE you've heard it.  OF COURSE you recognize it.  It's EVERYWHERE.

Including, surprisingly, on the Billboard Top 100.

On the chart dated 12/22, Mariah's hit sits comfortably at number 6, making it the highest-charting holiday song on the Billboard Hot 100 in SIXTY YEARS.

This is where our questions come in.

WHO IS ACTIVELY SEEKING THIS SONG OUT???  It's been playing, every year, incessantly, since 1994.  What is it about 2018 that has resurrected the EASILY-RECOGNIZABLE BECAUSE IT PLAYS ALL THE TIME track, actually placing it higher on the charts than Post Malone, Maroon 5, and Meek Mill???  It's a deeply divisive song...people either love it or hate it...and, apparently, way more people love it than previously expected.  It hit the top 10 last holiday season, and has outdone itself this year, even rising from number seven on the last Hot 100 chart.

Just in case you were wondering, the last holiday hit to sit atop the charts was "The Chipmunk Song", by David Seville and The Chipmunks, which sat at number one for four weeks in 1958.

To share in the holiday spirit, you can watch the video for "All I Want for Christmas Is You" below, if you're one of those who have put the song back on the charts.  And, for the rest of you...get used to it.  There's still one more week of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" to endure.
